Wildflower meadows produce wildlife-friendly environments with minimal maintenance requirements - just one or two cuts per year. Increasingly, garden owners are moving away from formal lawns, and architects and developers are able to encourage biodiversity gains on their projects.
Angel Horticulture Ltd install wildflower meadows of any size in Glasgow, Edinburgh and across the central belt of Scotland. We use wildflower turf to ensure successful establishment - a far surer technique than notoriously difficult efforts to establish wildflowers meadows using wildflower seed. The difficulty with establishing wildflower meadows by seed is that typically fertile garden soil lets grasses and weeds outcompete wildflowers. By using wildflower turf, existing weed and grass seeds lying dormant in your soil are suppressed until such a time as the wildflowers have really taken hold.
Wildflower turf is always mixed with some grass seed, essential for successful establishment, but the wildflower turf we use has a minimum of 75% wildflowers in it. We can even cater for shady areas with specialist shade-tolerant wildflower mixes, and for areas prone to intermittent drought and flooding - ideal for rain gardens and SuDS areas.
