As a Chartered Horticulturist, planting plans are a specialism of Tom’s. Generally planting plans are loose herbaceous designs with a mix of structural shrubs, evergreens and ornamental grasses interspersed to provide year-round structure. (Herbaceous plants die back over the winter but many can remain in-situ, providing seed-heads and attractive architectural forms).
The first stage in the creation of a planting plan is a micro-climate analysis including a soil pH test. This ensures that the plant selection follows the key principle of garden design - the right plants in the right places.
With Tom’s extensive experience in garden maintenance, you can rest assured that your planting plan will not create unexpected levels of maintenance. Maintenance plans are also available to guide you, if necessary, in getting the best from your new planting scheme. In the Glasgow area a quarterly maintenance service is also available to complement any garden design and planting plan projects.
Tom creates his planting plans from his garden design studio in the west end of Glasgow. If you are based further afield an online service is available which involves you sending in photographs, a soil sample, and answering a short questionnaire.
